Some weekends remind you exactly why you do this job. Silverstone was one of them.
From the 2nd to the 5th of July, we had four BoxKitchen units running inside the BOXPARK enclosure at the British Grand Prix, right on the inner track at Silverstone. Four days, non-stop service, and a crowd unlike anything the sport has ever seen. This year's race weekend pulled in a record 565,000 fans across the four days, the biggest attendance any Formula 1 event has recorded, beating the 31-year-old mark set by the 1995 Australian Grand Prix in Adelaide.
We won't pretend we weren't a little nervous going in. Numbers like that put real pressure on service, and pressure is where you find out what your kit is actually made of.
Built for exactly this
This is the whole reason our units exist. Not just to look good in a lineup (although they do), but to hold up when a venue goes from quiet to slammed in the space of a lap. Across four days of queues, sold-out grandstands, and a genuinely massive footfall through the BOXPARK enclosure, our four units kept going without a single issue affecting service. No breakdowns, no bottlenecks, no downtime. Just consistent, fast service from first order to last.
That's not luck. It's the result of units designed properly from the ground up, containerised kitchens and bars that are built to handle real commercial volume, not just built to sit still and look the part.
A weekend worth being proud of
Being part of the BOXPARK enclosure at Silverstone meant sitting alongside some brilliant independent street food traders, all serving inside the same space, all under the same pressure. It's the sort of environment that sharpens you. Everyone in that enclosure was there to give F1 fans a proper festival experience alongside the racing, and being trusted to be part of that lineup, at an event this size, is not something we take lightly.
The feedback since has been some of the best we've had all year. Fans fed fast, traders able to focus on their food because the kitchens behind them just worked, and a genuinely great atmosphere across all four days. For a weekend built around speed, in every sense of the word, that's exactly the result we wanted.
Why it matters
Events like Silverstone are a proper stress test, and they're also a reminder of what our units are actually for. Whether it's a boutique festival with a few hundred people or the biggest Grand Prix weekend in F1 history, the brief is the same: keep service fast, keep it reliable, and let the operators worry about the food rather than the kit.
Four days. Four units. A record-breaking crowd. Zero issues.
One of the best weekends we've had, and a brilliant marker of what BoxKitchen can do when it matters most.
